The Art Drop Project was initiated by three young artists in may 2016.
It is an alternative way to be part of the movement Dead Drop introduced by the German artist Aram Bartholl.

Principle is simple and smart. You create digital artworks. You put them to disposal of everyone, freely, into public spaces, via an USB key put into a wall, a furniture, a stone, a book, whatever you want. Beside the art files, you add text files about the Free Art License.

Everyone is completely free to modify the files they get on the USB key, to broadcast them, to erase them, even to market as long as every new production or modification stays under Free Art Licence and as long as the original work is credited.
This is not about getting rich or famous, but to promote a different way to be part of the artistic world. Community rather than elitism, sharing rather than selling, constant evolution rather than institutionnal reification. |
