M1Xtape
curated by Angela McQuillan
A Mix Tape is a vintage method of media distribution, and is defined traditionally as a compilation of songs recorded on cassette tape and usually created for listening by an individual or small group, most popular throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
Intended as a tribute to obsolete forms of file sharing, this drive is a portable art show, compiled from a wide variety of artistic styles and mediums, selectively put together in a mix, intended for private viewing. Mix tape enthusiasts will attest that a successful mix tape is designed as a whole to reflect an artistic statement that is greater than the sum of it’s individual parts.
Location: Frankford Ave and Norris st. on the north side of an electrical post outside the Rocket Cat
